Assessment of sustainable development of regions of the Northwestern Federal District

The article is based on the methodology that uses a multidimensional comparative analysis based on the method of Euclidean distances. The authors have evaluated the economic, social and environmental sustainability of the regions of the Northwestern Federal District, and calculated the integral sustainability index for the period of 2000 – 2010. The areas of sustainability have been defined and the regions ranked; the dynamics of changes in the indexes is shown
