The article presents the results of the poll conducted among the heads of industrial enterprises of the Vologda Oblast, which is devoted to revealing trends in state change of the regional industry and estimating topical issues of its development. The authors offer some possible measures to solve these problems. The paper gives the assessment of work and financial state of enterprises in terms of types of economic activity done by the heads of industrial enterprises. The researchers reveal the changes of key indicators of enterprises’ activities, and present the main factors, restraining the development of industrial construction, and actions executed at the enterprises for adaptation to the existing economic conditions. The article covers such functioning directions of industrial enterprises as investment and innovative activities, and cooperation with governmental authorities. The authors present the assessment of the amount of finance allocated for development of enterprises, and factors restraining investment activity, done by the heads of industrial enterprises. The paper introduces the measures, implementation of which will contribute to the industry’s development in opinion of respondents
