Abstract   |   Authors   |   References
The transition of the Russian economy to the market development in the 1990s was carried out through the implementation of liberal economic reforms. The deindustrialization of the national economy, its raw material orientation, and the strengthening of degenerative trends in the technological structure were the results of this reform. At the present stage, the Russian economy is also being undermined by the sanctions war. The task of achieving high rates of economic growth, allowing Russia to remain among the world leaders, has been repeatedly voiced by the top officials of the state. At the present stage, the sanctions war also undermines the Russian economy. Top public officials have repeatedly voice the task of achieving high rates of economic growth that allow Russia to remain among the world leaders. However, it has become particularly relevant in the previous five years, when the economy has almost stopped growing. The modern Russian economy is characterized by a raw material nature, inefficient development of the traditional sector, stagnation of most high-tech civil industries, low population’s effectual demand, insufficient investment in fixed assets, and high regional differentiation. One of the main reasons for this situation is the structural deformation of the economy, predetermined by the imbalances inherited from the Soviet economy, the impact of the transformational crisis in the course of liberal economic reform, and the structural policy currently being implemented. The purpose of the work is to prepare a review and systematize the studies of the Vologda Research Center of RAS on the problems of structural transformation of the economy at the regional level. The author shows how the research topic was forming, presents the main scientific results, and considers the range of tasks for the future
