The article presents the results of analysis of the functioning of modern mechanisms for the labor potential implementation of Russian regions. According to the author’s approach, all the mechanisms are divided in two groups due to their intended purpose: contributing to either quantitative or qualitative aspects of the region’s labor potential. Controlling mechanisms described in the Act on employment, regional employment programs, targeted programs of additional measures aimed at reducing tensions in labor market are examined in detail.
