The article defines the essence of the small and medium-sized businesses support infrastructure. There are the results of its conditions in the Vologda Oblast. The author has pointed out the factors which are harmful to the efficiency of support infrastructure: lack of entrepreneurs’ awareness, their distrust of authority, adverse state of the business climate for the business development in the region. There are recommendations on its improvement through the creation and development of a network of regional centers of small businesses, services compliance provided by the infrastructure elements with the needs of entrepreneurs, entrepreneurs’ awareness about the measures to support businesses and incensement of their consolidation
