The article is devoted to the topical issues concerning family value, conditions created for health protection, and formation of the child’s individual social status by the adult age. In the context of this direction the authors substantiate family value as the social institute of developing and bringing up children. The investigation is based on the statistical and sociological data, including the results of sociomedical prospective study “Research of health generation’s formation conditions”, conducted on the territory of the Vologda Oblast by Institute of Socio-Economic Development of Territories of Russian Academy of Sciences since 1995. Major quantitative and qualitative characteristics of teenagers and adolescents are described in the article. The authors make a characterological portrait of the modern young man (aged 17 – 18), which includes basic prerequisites necessary for successful socialization. The authors draw the conclusion that family is one of the main social institutes influencing child’s personality formation during all ages. The result of family’s influence on social adaptation can be completely estimated when the person will come of age. The authors show significance of conducted investigations in this field for scientifically based approach in solving the issues of family, parents and children
