Abstract   |   Authors   |   References
Crisis periods in the economy create a situation of instability when prices for goods rise and incomes fall. Their characteristic feature is the growth of inflation and unemployment. There are specific periods in Russia’s history in which the economic crisis directly affected the standard of living. In turn, the standard of living is an indicator that characterizes the satisfaction degree of people’s needs, which is directly related to income. The article aims to determine the impact of the crises of 2008, 2014 and 2020 on the standard of living. We use the data of statistics and sociological surveys that qualitatively characterize public opinion as an information base. The sample of the Vologda Oblast population survey is 1,500 people in 8 municipal districts and two large cities – Vologda and Cherepovets. We consider various theoretical and methodological approaches to the concept of crisis. In addition, we analyze such indicators as the consumer sentiment index, security and the need for durable goods. As a result of the research, we confirm the existence of a close relationship between the onset of crisis periods and the decline in income and consumer activity. At the same time, the growth of monetary incomes does not always correspond to the growth of actual ones, since inflation was most pronounced during crisis periods. We highlight common trends characteristic of crises and their minor differences
