The article shows the results of the social study aiming at the evaluation of human capital in machine-building enterprises. Machine-building industry is one of the key growing points in innovative economy, that’s why the enterprises’ need for the human capital that meets the time demands increases. The conclusion about the lack of effective human capital use in this sector is based on the studies showing low creativity of employees and their dissatisfaction with material incentives
