Skorodumov P.V. Simulation modelling of economic systems: software tools and areas of improvement. Problems of Territory's Development, 2015, no. 2 (76)

Abstract   |   Authors   |   References
The research into the socio-economic development of regions is closely connected with the construction of models of real systems, analysis of their current behavior and forecasting of their future behavior. At present, the method of simulation is one of the most in-demand. It combines the features of the experimental approach and the specific conditions of the use of computing technology. Computer simulation makes the process more transparent and understandable for an average researcher. This article considers the approaches of system dynamics, discrete-event simulation and agentbased modeling. The author presents the advantages of simulation modelling and the stages of building models on its basis. The article provides a brief overview and analysis of simulation modelling systems ARIS, Arena, Anylogic, and iThink. The results of the analysis are summarized in the table. Besides, the article presents possible ways to improve simulation modelling systems. In conclusion, the author points out that the research into economic systems is impossible without building the models of the processes going on in them. The development of information technology brings the study of systems to a new level. Currently, the method of simulation modelling is relevant and in demand, and hence, the development and improvement of simulation modelling systems will continue and improve
