One of the urgent problems of territorial development is ensuring competitiveness, which can be achieved through the effective use of internal resources and industry development. According to Rosstat, in 2018, industry provided 32.4% of Russia’s GDP, while in 30 regions production contribution to GRP exceeded 40%. According to the research of the leading scientists, digitalization and digital technologies are among the sources that ensure qualitative growth in industry. Their implementation leads to the transformation of production processes, increases labor productivity and efficiency of enterprise. The barrier to their implementation is the lack of experience in the use of digital technologies, as well as a small number of scientific papers, focused on the implementation process and the proposal of clear algorithms. The work uses a number of methods (literature review, analysis, synthesis, comparison, etc.), which provided a comprehensive elaboration of the material. The analysis of the literature helps to identify two approaches to the process of introducing digital technologies in industry. The first one is based on the choice of digital technologies for the needs of production, i.e. the enterprise’s needs are taken into account. The second one is the opposite of the first – a company is selected for the created technologies, to which they will be useful. The disadvantage of the existing algorithms is the lack of clearly defined steps and the order of their execution, as a result of which the process of introducing digital technologies becomes more complicated. In this regard, we have developed the approach to the organization of this process. As a scientific basis, we have used a system of factors, developed at the previous stages of the study taking into account the peculiarities of industrial production and including potentially stimulating and inhibiting aspects. The developed algorithm gives a comprehensive approach to the process of introducing digital technologies because it has a clear structure, and the highlighted stages simplify the identification of production to determine further steps in the implementation of digital technologies. The next stage is to carry out methodological recommendations for managers of industrial enterprises. Their use in management practice will optimize the process of choosing digital technologies
